He affirms the dignity and uniqueness of all individuals.Ĭorey is licensed as an LPC, and is currently able to accept OHP, Trillium, PacificSource insurances. Although this is his perspective, a person need not be a Christian or religious to work well with Corey. Corey is also trained in neurofeedback and includes this treatment in many situations that are often difficult to treat with talk therapy alone.Ĭorey is a strong believer in using the best practices, proven to be effective through research, that also align well with spiritual wisdom and the teachings of Christ. Learning new skills such as mindfulness, emotional regulation, social skills, and mental flexibility can take time, but can also begin to change the way our brain and nervous systems react to stress. This philosophy is core to the collaborative problem solving model, trauma-informed practices, and dialectical behavioral therapy. Corey also teaches in the community in various settings.Ĭorey’s approach to counseling is that people do well if they can, and that learning new skills for living creates better outcomes for ourselves, our children, and our relationships. He facilitates groups including parenting, emotional intelligence, and integrating art into the healing process. Areas of focus include emotional regulation, behavioral disorders, attention problems, and attachment. He has received extensive training and consultation in collaborative problem solving, trauma-informed care, foster/adoptive parenting and has also received training in play therapy.Ĭorey works primarily with children, families, and men. Corey received a post graduate certification in foster and adoption family therapy from Portland State University.

Some of our therapists are taking on new Telehealth clients. While all of our therapists share a common belief in God, CAFA is fortunate to have many different flavors of Christian faith with different views and different doctrines among our staff. We prioritize education in the field of mental health and remain current in best practices. Our therapists are trained in child development, neuroscience, relationship skills and development, depression, anxiety, and the impact of trauma.
We hope to equip individuals to live healthier more successful lives.
